MMA API – Meta Rankings

We've added Meta rankings to our MMA API Rankings endpoint.

The new Meta rankings are calculated automatically by an objective, data-driven algorithm. These are available in addition to the current Media rankings, decided by human votes from a selected panel of journalists. Meta rankings are available in the same Rankings endpoint as Media rankings — no additional call required.

Media rankings use type_ids 8-19; Meta rankings use type_ids 72, 74-84. See the MMA FAQ for the complete category list.

Access both algorithm-driven Meta rankings and journalist-voted Media rankings from the same endpoint, so you can display both perspectives to users or let them toggle between ranking sources.

📋 Recommended Actions

Read the type_id to distinguish Media rankings (8-19) from Meta rankings (72, 74-84).
Access both ranking types from the same endpoint — no separate call needed.
Display both rankings in your product, or let users toggle between the algorithm-driven (Meta) and journalist-voted (Media) rankings.
